1月24日はゴールドラッシュデー。1848年 1月24 日、アメリカのカリフォルニア州で金の粒が発見された。この噂が広まり、一攫千金を求めて沢山の人たちが集まるカリフォルニア・ゴールドラッシュとなった。

千葉県立美術館に行った。1月24日 再開館前の今日1月23日の特別招待である。嬉し いな。
千葉県立美術館は2013年1 月から耐震改修工事の為に閉館していた。2017年1月24日に再開館する事になった。

「平山郁夫展－仏教伝来の軌跡、そして平和の祈り」である。
日本画壇を代表する画家・平山郁夫が、生涯のテーマとした仏教伝来と作品に込めた平和への祈りについて、滋賀県守山市の佐川美術館の所蔵作品を中心に約90点を展示し、平山郁夫の芸術の軌跡とその旅路を回顧する。

Painter Hirayama Ikuo was representing the Japanese art world, the exhibition is his lifelong theme, about 90 works of the mainly the Fine Art of "Sagawa museum" of Shiga Prefecture Moriyama .

八甲田雪中行軍遭難事件は、1902年（明治35年）1月23に日本陸軍第8師団の歩兵第5連隊が青森市街から八甲田山の田代新湯に向かう雪中行軍の途中で遭難した事件。訓練への参加者210名中199名が死亡（うち6名は救出後死亡）するという日本の冬季軍事訓練における最も多くの死傷者が発生した事故であるとともに近代の登山史における世界最大級の山岳遭難事故である。
新田次郎の小説 「八甲田山死の彷徨」を読む事を薦めたい。

英語サークルの新年会が千葉駅近くの和風レストランで「波奈」であった。楽しい一日だった。本年抱負なんて聞かれてそれぞれ喋っていたな。

イスラム国はアメリカのイラク進攻を契機として成立した。イスラム国は国境なき国である。イラク戦争は国連の反対を振り払ってアメリカのブッシュ大統領が起こした戦争だ。今オバマ大統領は軍事行動にるイスラム国の壊滅を宣言した。もしアメリカが軍事行動を拡大すれば、イスラム国は従来の国家の枠組越えて更に勢力拡散するであろう。

President Obama now has declared the destruction of Islamic state wirh military action. If expand the US military, Islamic countries will diffuse more forces beyond the framework of the traditional nation borders .
陳舜臣さんのご冥福を祈る。
アジアと日本の歴史を描き続けた作家の陳舜臣さんが90歳で老衰のため亡くなった。作品を通して国際的な相互理解の大切さを訴え続けた陳さん。生まれ育った神戸に熱い思いを抱き続け、阪神大震災（１９９５年１月）で被災した経験から「語り部の役割を担っていかねばならない」と活動されていた。
陳 舜臣さんは1924年（大正13年）2月18日 - 2015年（平成27年）1月21日）推理小説、歴史小説作家、歴史著述家。代表作に『阿片戦争』『太平天国』『秘本三国志』『小説十八史略』など。『ルバイヤート』の翻訳でも知られる。神戸市出身。本籍は台湾台北だったが、1973年に中華人民共和国の国籍を取得し、その後、1989年の天安門事件への批判を機に、1990年に日本国籍を取得している。台湾国籍同時保有。日本芸術院会員。
