ロシアのウラジオストック出身の俳優です。本名ユーリイ・バリーサ ヴィチ・ブリーネル）。強烈な個性派の俳優でした。タバコ好きで肺癌のため６５歳で亡くなりました。
出演した作品は「王様と私」、「十戒」、「追想」、「荒野の七人」、「カラマゾフの兄弟」等です。
