3月16日は「 国立公園指定記念日」
1934年3月16日に内務省が、瀬戸内海・雲仙（現在の雲仙天草）・霧島（現在の霧島屋久）の3か所を国立公園に指定し、日本初の国立公園が誕生したことに由来する。
